Brendan Sugrue of The Bears Wire and Bear Down Chicago Podcast talks about the Bears' struggles early in the 2023 season on "9 Good Minutes" on WGN News Now.CHICAGO — Remember back in early September when some around the Bears had big goals about the potential of the 2023 team?Even with 11 games to go, it's safe to say those hopes for the "Monsters of the Midway" are quite tempered. After all, it's mid-October, and people are beginning to talk about the possibility of the team once again getting the No. 1 pick. That's what happens when the Bears lose five of their first six games, including to the 1-4 Vikings on Sunday. Justin Fields injured his thumb, and it's unknown when he might be ready, and like the rest of the offense, he's endured an up-and-down year. Meanwhile, the defense is taking quite a bit of time to find its own identity despite a few additions, with the departure of coordinator Alan Williams in September not helping things out. Their best game was this past Sunday wit...

The Loop Fantasy Football Report Week 7: Help! The Loop needs a quarterback!

Published Mon, 24 Feb 2025 20:06:22 GMT

There are few moments more painful in fantasy football than when teams employing a one-quarterback strategy watch their quarterback go down.Such a tragedy struck The Loop last week when our solo QB, Chicago’s Justin Fields, dislocated his thumb against the Vikings. It was the latest setback of Fields’ hot-cold season, knocking him out for this week and some time beyond. It left our roster QB-free. And if you think there are a bunch of replacement options as we head into Week 7, you’d be mistaken. This is the biggest bye week of the year, with the Bengals, Cowboys, Titans, Jets, Panthers and Texans idle. So lots of fantasy mavens will be desperate for a quarterback, and the pickings are mighty slim. In our league, this would be the less-than-magnificent seven best options for a quick QB replacement for this week:Geno Smith (Seahawks vs. Cardinals) – Clearly The Loop’s best option. Though the veteran has only five TD passes in five games, he is averaging about 234 yards per game. And he...

With the Vikings playing the Chicago Bears on the road, Davenport suffered an ankle injury, and ultimately had to be carted to the locker room. After going through the evaluation process, the Vikings officially placed Davenport on injured reserve on Wednesday morning, ensuring he will miss at least a month as he works his way back to full strength. This is the latest setback for Davenport after he missed a couple of games earlier this season with an ankle injury. He was starting to come into his own opposite pass rusher Danielle Hunter. In a corresponding move, the Vikings activated running back Kene Nwangwu to the 53-man roster. He hasn’t played this season after suffering a back injury in training camp.Related ArticlesMinnesota Vikings | Vikings’ Danielle Hunter leads NFL in sacks, even as trade rumors swirl Minnesota Vikings | ...
