It may not feel like it outside today, but it’s about to get warm.The National Weather Service is forecasting much more spring-like weather this weekend, with a high near 62 on Saturday and 66 on Sunday. Those would be the first 60-degree days of the season.Next week could start, dare we say it, summer-like, with sunny skies and a high near 72 on Monday and 73 on Tuesday.Unfortunately, we will have to contend with a bit of cold first.Wednesday is expected to see falling temperatures from a morning high near 36. LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- According to the latest poll by the Siena College Research Institute (SCRI), the New York State Index of Consumer Sentiment stands at 75.0, up 2.7 points from the last measurement in the fourth quarter of 2022. New York’s overall Index of Consumer Sentiment is 13.0 points above the nation’s index of 62.0. Get the latest, news, weather, sports and community events delivered right to your inbox! The current index increased over 3 points to 70.1 and the future index increased just over 2 points resulting in New York’s measure of future expectations moving from 75.9 last quarter to 78.1 today, according to SCRI. SCRI also says that future confidence in New York is over three points above the breakeven point of balanced optimism and pessimism and 18.9 points higher than national future confidence. Data via SCRISCRI says buying plans were up from the 2022 fourth quarter measurement for homes at 17.1%, from 11.5%. ST. LOUIS - A tax preparer from St. Louis County admitted to preparing at least 23 fraudulent tax returns, creating losses of more than half a million dollars. Darius D. Cobb, 51, of Jennings, pleaded guilty Tuesday to two felony counts of aiding in the preparation of a false and fraudulent tax return. Trending: St. Louis-area April 4 municipal eleciton results According to a plea agreement, Cobb included false information in at least 23 of 200-plus tax returns he prepared between 2017 and 2018. Some of the false information in those returns included fake W-2 forms with false wages and withholdings, false Schedule C forms and false claims for the American Opportunity Credit. In one instance, Cobb reportedly included a business loss of more than $14,000 for one taxpayer, even though the taxpayer was not a business owner. The total losses were around $517,000. A shooting and police chase early Wednesday forced the closure for several hours of U.S. Highway 36, which links metro Denver and Boulder, as investigators worked at the scene between Federal and Sheridan boulevards.Both eastbound and westbound lanes of the highway were reopened shortly after 7:30 a.m.Adams County Sheriff’s deputies cited an active investigation before the highway was closed.Early Wednesday, shots were fired, and deputies chased a vehicle carrying a suspect, according to an Adams County Sheriff’s posting on Twitter. Deputies in pursuit stopped the vehicle using a tactical maneuver, and all occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody, agency Twitter postings said. An early-morning fire in Buena Park has forced 11 people out of their homes.The fire broke out at about 1 a.m. in the 7700 block of 10th Street and was knocked down in 51 minutes by more than 40 firefighters, according to the Orange County Fire Authority."Our crews here were hampered with some challenges such as wires down that were affected by the fire," said Capt. Thanh Nguyen.
