Carlsbad police conduct active shooter training at high school

CARLSBAD, Calif. -- Carlsbad Police Department held its mandatory active shooter response training. The training took place at Sage Creek High School while the school is on spring break.The FOX 5 crew was able to walk through each step officers might take when encountering an active shooter. The department chose the school’s location because the area can apply to other shooting scenes.The training was held over eight hours, including classroom lectures, drills and scenarios that police officers and some community members, who posed as victims and witnesses, took part in.During the training, officers learned; how to pry open a door where a shooter might be; move toward the suspect; constantly talk with each other, victims or witnesses. GOLDSBORO, N.C. (AP) — A 14-year-old girl was killed and five other people were wounded in a shooting Wednesday during a gathering at a North Carolina home, police said.The shooting happened at about 6:30 p.m. in Goldsboro, WRAL reported. The Goldsboro Police Department said the five who were wounded were stable and being treated at Wayne Memorial Hospital. EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern University has issued a shelter and place alert after 3 people were shot Wednesday evening just south of the university's Evanston campus.According to a tweet, the university said police are investigating shots fired at Clark Street Beach.
